Type Fonts

When selecting the type fonts to be used in your press-ready files for both your cover and your manuscript, there are several aspects to consider. The number one consideration should be Readability. Fancy fonts are fun to use and attractive in certain settings BUT use them with care. In children’s books they may prevent young learners from actually reading your book, especially if you choose a script or handwritten style. Size is a second consideration. If your target audience is older then a slightly larger type size and increased spacing between the lines may be called for. Finally, be aware that ALL CAPS IS HARDER TO READ IF YOU USE IT FOR MORE THAN A FEW WORDS AND TO SOME PEOPLE IT FEELS LIKE YELLING.
